On 20 April 2025, Bangladesh Bank’s Foreign Exchange Policy Department issued FE Circular Letter No. 14, “Remittance against import transactions”.
Directed at all Authorized Dealers (ADs) in Foreign Exchange operating in the country, the Circular refers to the Central Bank’s Guidelines for Foreign Exchange Transactions, 2018 (GFET), Chapter 7, Paragraph 26 which grants ADs the ability to effect remittances against discrepant documents/documents received directly by respective importers, on receipt of bill of entry in support of the release of goods.
