Data Suggests US Bank-Provided Trade Finance Poses Limited Risk

While acknowledging the reporting of trade finance data is “scarce and fragmented”, an article released by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (Fed) – the US central bank – suggests that trade finance instruments pose little potential risk to the banking system, primarily because these products and services account for a small and shrinking segment of banks’ overall business.
