With the latest annual update to formats and rules on the Swift network approaching in November, Swift agreed to a request from its community to extend the timeline into 2027.
Three years ago, the community decided to move from unstructured to structured postal addresses for ISO 20022 payment messages as part of Swift’s Standards Release 2026 (SR 2026). As the November 2026 implementation date neared, it became clear more time was needed throughout the industry globally.
