Following a request from India for Mehul Choksi’s extradition, Belgium arrested the fugitive former diamond trader on 12 April 2025. Choksi is wanted in India for criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, cheating and financial misappropriation in connected with the INR 13,000 crore (USD 1.8 billion) Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam.
