DCW Monthly: May 2026
It's been just under two months since the ICC Banking Commission voted against revising UCP 600, but the
Trade Treasury Payments (TTP), along with BAFT and ICC, published “A Practical Guide to Documentary Collections” on 6 May 2026.
Authored by Jon Boran of Lloyds Bank and David Meynell of TradeLC Advisory with contributions from TTP representatives, BAFT, and ICC Technical Advisors, the Guide contains chapters on the fundamentals of collections, the key parties involved, why collections are used, the types and categories of collections, and an overview of the URC 522 rules.
The Guide also delves into real-world use cases, including reasons for using collections instead of other payment methods, common disputes arising between contracting parties, goods consignment scenarios, and commentary on the impact sanctions, financial crime, and fraud risk mitigants. The Guide then offers concentrated attention on the digitalization of collections, including tips when handling collections under the eURC supplement, case studies on a variety of digital collection experiences, and challenges with digitialising collections.
The 60-page Guide is freely available for download from TTP.
Previously, BAFT collaborated with Trade Finance Global (TFG) in 2024 to produce the freely available “Everything you need to know about Letters of Credit: A comprehensive guide to Documentary Credits”.
